सूत से कच्ची ये दोस्तियाँ
पत्थर बने दिल, चट्टान सा अहम्
रेशम में लिपटे खुदरे-खुदरे लोग.

में कि गोद में पनपते-बढ़ते लोग
राहों में बिखरे कंकरों जैसे
कैसे ढोऊ में इन्हें.

सूत से कच्ची ये दोस्तियाँ
ये लिजलिजी दोस्तियाँ.

हाथ मिलाउ तो ये 
छिल-छिल जाएँ
कदम बढाऊँ तो ये
पैर जल-जल जाएँ.

एक कदम आगे बढ़ा के 
दस कदम पीछे हटती ये दोस्तियाँ.

 सूत से कच्ची ये दोस्तियाँ.  

English Translation

SHALLOW FRIENSHIPS
These friendships,
Are weaker than the cotton thread.

These stone-hearted, egoistical,
wrapped in silk but rough
and crude people,
nurtured in the lap of individualism
lie scattered on my path
like sharp pebbles.

How do I deal with them?
These friendships
Are weaker than the cotton thread.

These shallow friendships,
When I hold out my hand
it gets bruised

These friendships, take one step forward,
Ten steps backward at the same time.
